Military

  • At least seven Hayat Tahrir al-Sham fighters were killed in Idlib city when an HTS ammunition vehicle exploded. The reason for the explosion is unknown. (Smart News-AR, Qasioun-AR)
  • Failaq al-Rahman and Assad Coalition forces clashed in Jobar today, during which ten pro-government fighters were reportedly killed. (Qasioun-AR, Orient News-AR)
  • ISIS fighters recaptured locations they lost yesterday to Assad Coalition forces near Brigade 137 to the west of Deir Ezzor city, reinforcing the siege on government-control neighborhoods. (Qasioun-AR, Smart News-AR)
  • A new local ceasefire agreement was signed between Russia and seven armed opposition groups (AOGs) operating in the Eastern Qalamoun area. The agreement will allow goods, food and medicine to enter the area and create a demarcation line between the AOGs and government forces. (Smart News-AR)

Political

  • In its latest report, the UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria accused the Syrian government of using sarin gas in the 4 April Khan Sheikhoun attack, and found US forces culpable of not taking “all feasible precautions” to protect civilians in its 16 March attack on the al-Jinah mosque.   • UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura said the Syrian opposition should realize they did not win the war, and should be ready to negotiate in a pragmatic and unified way with the government in October. (Web TV UN, Reuters)
