Military

  • The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed it killed 40 ISIS fighters, including four leaders, in precision airstrikes near Deir Ezzor city. (Russia MoD FB, Al-Jazeera)
  • There are unconfirmed reports that Israeli forces and a tank entered Syria in Quneitra governorate. (Qasioun, Elnashra-AR)

Political

  • On Thursday, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned that Israel would “do everything to prevent a Shi’ite corridor from Iran to Damascus.” (Haaretz, AFP)
  • On Friday, Kurdish YPG spokesperson Ibrahim Ibrahim reportedly denied claims that the YPG was withdrawing from Tal Rifat city and surrounding areas. (Qasioun)
  • A French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that France is paying close attention to the evidence recently revealed regarding chemical attacks in Syria, and called for those responsible to be held accountable. (Reuters)
  • Etilaf, the Syrian opposition coalition, condemned the demands of unnamed “regional and external parties” requiring opposition groups Ahmad al-Abdu and Ossoud al-Sharqia to withdraw from al-Badiya area to Jordan. Etilaf was referring to unconfirmed reports that the US demanded these groups to withdraw and cede territory to Assad Coalition forces. (Eitlaf)

Humanitarian

  • A 42-truck aid convoy reached the Deir Ezzor city on Friday with aid for 80,000 people; however, reports indicate government forces took the aid and sold it to civilians in the besieged areas of al-Jorah and Qusour. (SARC, @DeirEzzor24, @JFLngo, @ICRC_sy)
