BRIEFING: Syria: Hope After 5 Years

March 18, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

On March 15th, the Syrian conflict enters its 6th year, offering a grim reminder of how long Syrians have endured what is considered the worst humanitarian crisis since the Second World War. While the recent agreement on a cessation of hostilities offers an important opportunity that the international community must capitalize on, the needs of civilians inside Syria remain great, and in many cases, unmet. As we look to a hopeful future, I would like to invite you to attend a briefing on the humanitarian situation in Syrian hosted by Crisis Action.

This briefing will highlight a number of ongoing challenges posed by the crisis, including, the provision of humanitarian aid and the fundamental need for holistic and sustainable assistance that looks to the long-term future of Syria. In addition, issues of protection, IHL, justice, and refugee response will be discussed. Speakers include those with direct experience on the ground who will offer their unique perspective on the challenges they face, and action the international community must take to overcome them.
