Speaker Bio:
Irina D. Zvyagelskaya, Dr. of Sc in History, is Chief Research Fellow at the Institute of Oriental Studies under the Russian Academy of Sciences. She is also a professor at the Moscow State University in the Institute of Asian and African Countries and a professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations under the Foreign Ministry of Russia. Her main field of interest is international relations in the Middle East and in Central Asia, and she has authored over 200 publications (books, chapters, monographs, articles, etc).
Dr. Zvyagelskaya has participated in a number of international projects, including the Dartmouth Conference Regional Conflicts Task Force set up in 1982. In particular, the Task Force contributed to the settlement of the conflict in Tajikistan through a sustained public dialogue.
