Malu Halasa, Jordanian Filipina American writer and editor based in London, will be joining us alongside Dr. Mohammad Alahmad and Dr. Elliott Cola of Georgetown University, to present on Syrian literature and poetry.
Her lecture will examine the roots of the Syrian conflict as seen through Syrian short stories by Zakaria Tamer (Breaking Knees: 63 Very Short Stories from Syria), Rasha Abbas (The Gist of It), Zaher Omareen (Hama Massacre Bedtime Stories) and Osama Alomar (The Teeth of the Comb and Other Stories).
Halasa has been an important voice on Syria and the Middle East, proven by her nonfiction and fiction works, by her art and art analysis. We hope you will join us for an illuminating, poignant look into Syria, through the eyes of a talented scholar.
The CCAS Boardroom is wheelchair accessible. For any other accommodation requests, please don’t hesitate to contact Azza Altiraifi at email@example.com or Dr. Susan Douglass at firstname.lastname@example.org.
