YPIA: A Briefing on Syria Behind the News with Ahed Al Hendi

March 29 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

YPIA is pleased to welcome Ahed Al Hendi, founder of Syrian Youth for Justice and the Arabic program coordinator of CyberDissidents.org.

As a student in Syria, Al Hendi was imprisoned and tortured for political activism. He fled his homeland shortly thereafter and has lived in the United States ever since. Al Hendi has briefed the U.S. Congress, Secretary Hillary Clinton, and appears often on U.S. and Arabic language news outlets. His articles have been published in The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, The Daily Beast, and Reuters, and in Arabic dailies like Al Mustaqbal. Al Hendi was interviewed by Arabic channels such as Al Huraa, Russia Today Arabic, and Sawa and has also appeared on Bloomberg and Al Jazeera English.

Al-Hendi is a foremost expert on what really is happening in Syria. If you want to know the story behind the story, no one can provide an honest spin-free account about who the players are and what their real agendas are quite like Al-Hendi.

He cuts through the narratives using his personal experiences with the anti-Assad opposition to provides an unparalleled look at what things are like behind the scenes.

Below are a few of Mr. Al Hendi’s articles:
